This group is dedicated to raising awareness about how society
might
influence one’s relationship to one’s body and to
food. We offer a holistic understanding of body image and healthy
eating in a context that recognizes racial, sexual, gender,
(dis)ability, and class identity’s influence in the University
community.
We believe that we can prevent and reduce eating disorders and
the
prevalence of body image oppression through education, outreach,
support, and intervention.
The Association of Body Image and Disordered Eating is a U.C.
Davis
committee composed of representatives from Campus Recreation,
Counseling and Psychological Services, Cowell Student Health
Center, and the Women’s Resources and Research Center.
