Fall 2004
: Gyöngy Laky
As an artist, Gyöngy's great accomplishments have earned her worldwide
recognition. Her art speaks unutterable languages and surpasses indefinable
boundaries in an effort to raise questions about the enviroment, social
construct, current events and many other things that are important
to her. As a woman, she is an active advocate of women's rights and
a great source of support and inspiration to women around the world.
Gyöngy Laky, is an exceptional model of what a Woman of the Quarter
represents. |

We recognize her life-long work in supporting and serving as a valuable
resource to her students and all who have had the opportunity to meet
her. For her determined effort to raise awareness on women's issues
and for all the greatness she inspires, we name Ivette Gisele Flores-Ortiz
our Woman of the Quarter. |

Karyl Ketchum is
an examplary woman of character and charisma who is continually working
to educate the greater public about the importance of women's values
and roles in society. She is honored as the Woman of Quarter at the
University of California, Davis for her evergrowing desires to be
a role model and a guide to women on campus. |

2003 : Sandy Walsh
This page is dedicated to Sandy Walsh and her achievements as Woman
of the Quarter for Fall 2003. As a breast cancer survivor, she uses
her own battle to educate and support people in need. For all of her
incredible work supporting women locally and nationally,we honor her
as the Woman of the Quarter. |

2003: Lisa Thomas
Lisa Thomas graduated from UCD as a re-entry student with a "degree
in talking" (Rhetoric and Communication). She's a "big-old'ham'"
who pledges her soul to the arts. She's the Graduate Studies program
coordinator for the department of Theatre and Dance who is in love
with the "thrill of the show." |

Winter 2003:
Carole Joffe
Carole Joffe works in the front lines of advocacy and information on
women’s issues. A professor of Sociology and Women and Gender
Studies, Carole arrived at UCD in 1990, bringing great expertise and
commitment to her research and teaching on reproductive health services
and politics. She offers a sane informed voice to public debate about
reproductive health, choice, and rights. |

Fall 2002: Annie
Ross Annie Ross wears multiple
hats on our campus, first joining UCD in 1999 as an associate instructor
in Native American Studies and later taking on doctoral studies in
Native American Studies. Over the years, Annie's community-based research
and volunteer activities have taken her on numerous journeys throughout
North America. In addition to her academic endeavors, Annie expresses
her creativity through nature and woman-inspired paintings, which
have been exhibited in California and New Mexico. |
