This presentation takes a closer look into how society, popular culture,
and media affect our perception of gender and sexuality, and creating
a more conscious and inclusive environment and on-campus.
- Sexy or Sexist? Messages from the Media:
This presentation examines the media's influence on how we perceive
gender and sexuality. Utilizing media sources such as magazine and fashion
ads we will examine how subjects like masculinity and hypersexuality
are interpreted. The goal is to open up a discussion on advertised ideas
of what is sexy for men and what is sexy for women, then to dissect
how those assumptions can be unfavorable to gender identities.
