in the media, violence against women, eating disorders as a social
justice issue, and overlapping identities of gender, race and sexuality
are examples of the topics she can offer. She is also happy to present

offer the following workshops:
- How to Help a Friend
Do your friends come to you with their problems? Are you in over
your head? Or do you simply want to know what you can do to help?
Learn the do’s and dont’s of supporting your friends,
including the skills of effective listening and connecting to
appropriate campus resources. You can do more than you think to
help a friend in need.
- Sexy or Sexist? Issues Facing
Women Today
Does sexism still exist? Share your thoughts in this lively and
engaging discussion on current issues that women face. We’ll
watch video clips from popular films and TV shows to begin thinking
about how gender affects our lives on a daily basis.
- Developing the Confident Woman
in You
Learn how to project your inner confidence outward in all that
you do—from school and work to relationships. Drawing on
your personal strengths, explore ways to be assured and effective
in your communication style. We welcome women of all confidence
levels into this safe space, where discussion and activities are
designed to empower you.
- The Appeal of Body Perfection
In our image-obsessed society, up to one in three college women
practice some form of disordered eating. This workshop provides
a safe space to understanding eating disorders, including the
social and cultural aspects that affect women of all racial, ethnic,
and sexual identities. Learn about campus resources that can help.
- Self
Defense and Safety
Learn strategies to increase your awareness and reduce your risk.
We’ll teach you basic self-defense techniques that any woman
can do. You will enhance your confidence, increase your security,
and realize your own power.
