Health Resources and Support

The following are just some of the many resources available on and off of campus for students seeking support around mental and physical health. If you do not find what you are looking for, please feel free to drop by the WRRC during office hours or email us for more information. 

Community Health Clinics

  • Communicare Health Care, Davis: Comprehensive, non-emergency, culturally diverse, primary health care services for low-income, uninsured and underinsured population of Yolo County. Patients may pay according to a sliding fee scale. Assistance is given to help patients enroll in coverage programs for which they are eligible.
  • Sutter Davis Hospital, Women's Clinic
  • Women's Health Specialists, Sacramento: Free Health Care Service. Provides confidential, compassionate, nonjudgmental health care. All birth control methods, pap smears, abortion services, STD testing and treatment, prenatal information, adoption and referrals. Free Pregnancy tests. MediCal and insurance accepted.
  • Sacramento Native American Health Center: The Medical Department at SNAHC provides basic health care for adults and children; sensitive services for teens; diagnosis and treatment for acute and chronic conditions; general health maintenance or employment; nutrition; health education; and smoking prevention/cessation education.

Health Insurance Resources

Campus

  • Student Health and Counseling Services: SHIP Benefits: SHIP is comprised of medical/mental health, dental and vision insurance coverage and is available to all registered UC Davis students, with the exception of those enrolled in the Working Professional MBA program.
  • Student Health and Counseling Services: SHIP Dependent Coverage: Undergraduate, graduate and professional students who are enrolled in UC SHIP have the option to enroll eligible dependents in a voluntary plan. The plan provides medical insurance and the option to purchase dental/vision benefits. Student Health and Counseling Services also offers services for the LGBTQIA+ community.   • SHCS: SHIP Benefits for Transgender Students: The UC Davis' Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) offers coverage of hormone and surgery benefits for transgender students. As part of facilitating this coverage, Counseling and Psychological Services has formed a consultation group consisting of UCD medical providers, UCD mental health providers, and community mental health providers. This group is the Gender Care Team. You can find more information on the LGBTQIA+ Health page. 

Regional & National

  • Family PACT: The Office of Family Planning (OFP) is charged by the California Legislature “to make available to citizens of the State who are of childbearing age comprehensive medical knowledge, assistance, and services relating to the planning of families”. The purpose of family planning is to provide women and men a means by which they decide for themselves the number, timing, and spacing of their children.
  • Covered California: Covered California™ is an easy-to-use marketplace implementing the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in California. Through Covered California, you and your family can compare affordable, quality health insurance options and choose the one that best fits your needs and budget. By law, your coverage can't be dropped or denied if you have a pre-existing medical condition or if you get sick. You may even be able to get financial assistance through Covered California to make your health coverage more affordable.

  • Community Advising Network: Community Counselors assist all students, including those from diverse and vulnerable populations, in achieving their academic goal and addressing obstacles and areas of concern related to personal, social academic and career choices, family issues and other stress factors such as financial and work-school balance.

  • Student Health and Counseling Services: SHCS provides a variety of services including one-on-one counseling and group therapy, as well as a variety of educational workshops and discussions throughout the year.  
  • Each Aggie MattersEach Aggie Matters is UC Davis' Mental Health Movement uniting the campus community in an open and affirming dialogue about mental health. Explore our campus mental health map and calendar to find out more about trainings, events, and other support resources on campus and in the surrounding communities.
  • Academic and Staff Assistance Program (ASAP): Offer confidential mental health supportive services and referral to UC Davis faculty and staff, and their immediate family members. Phone 530-752-2727.
